Apparently, Senators-elect Elizabeth Warren and Tammy Baldwin are now thick as thieves, walking arm-in-arm down the halls of the Capitol, with Warren even overheard saying to her Wisconsin counterpart, “Pretend you’re talking to me!” in order to avoid a clutch of reporters.
And we all know that Kirsten Gillibrand had her hand in just about every Senate electorial pie involving women, at least as far as the newbies are concerned - Warren, Baldwin, North Dakota’s Heidi Heitkamp, and Hawaii’s Mazie Hirono all got help, of both the financial and advisory kind, from New York’s junior Senator. (All four won. Coincidence? I think not.)
I am not usually a political junkie - I watch Rachel Maddow every night, and that’s the extent of my political involvement. But with ladies like these on the Senate floor, I may have to add C-SPAN to my list of “things to watch”, because this 113th Congress is going to be one to remember.
I’m practically licking my lips in anticipation of seeing what these ladies get up to. When you think about the female powerhouses now in the Senate - Gillibrand, Warren, Baldwin, California’s Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer, Alaska’s Lisa Murkowski, and Maine’s Susan Collins, just to name a few - well, God, I’m giddy just thinking about it!
